How to get the best out of your boss (and possibly that pay rise!!)

Make their day, pay them a genuine compliment  (don't fawn).
 
Ask them to write down their goals for you to achieve.
 
Listen to your boss and set aside your own judgements.
 
Ask and seek their advice on many issues (some may be relevant some not).
 
Talk to your boss not at your boss.
 
Look after the broad view and don't do too much detail.
 
Be Succinct (Time is Money).
 
Humility is priceless.
